Sometimes people become full-time musicians in spite of themselves. When this week’s featured artist graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1995 with a degree in music production and engineering, the plan was for him to own or work in a recording studio. But, apparently, life had another plan for him. Meet Stu Sinclair. “I didn’t mean to get into performing. It just happened. I owned a recording studio for a while, but I left it after a few years and now I play full-time,” the guitaristvocalist said recently. Sinclair, who is originally from Maine but now resides in Providence, plays his guitar and sings almost every night of the week. And he’s built a loyal following after many years of cranking out tunes in Newport. Every summer, for the past nine years, Sinclair and his band, Never in Vegas, have played Saturday nights at the Dockside on Waite’s Wharf. Along with guitarist Dave Stejna, drummer Chip Lewis, and bassist Erik Sperl, Sinclair and company have performed high energy rock on Saturdays to large crowds of adoring fans.
